Angry Birds Star Wars updated with 20 free Hoth levels
The eagerly awaited update to Angry Birds Star Wars game has gone live and brings with it 20 free new levels set on the remote ice planet of Hoth.
Version 1.1.0 of the game is based on the events in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. The game-play features the iconic AT-AT walkers, with a Piggy-style makeover. As in the film, they can be brought down by aiming for their weak spot.
It also sees the appearance of the Princess Leia character, being portrayed in the action by the Pink Bird. She can shoot lasers, like the Han Solo bird, but they instead behave like tractor beams and can hit two targets (such as AT-AT legs) at the same time.
The 29 November update also adds two new bonus levels. And if you complete all of the new levels, fear not. Another 20 Hoth levels are listed as ‘coming soon’.
Angry Birds Star Wars successfully blends elements of Angry Birds Space and the Star Wars universe and was well-received by fans and reviewers when it was released in early November.
The game is available on iOS, Mac, Android and various Windows systems including Windows Phone 8, with prices ranging from free to £1.99 for the HD version for iPad and £3.49 for the Windows 8 flavour. If you have already bought it, you’ll need to check for an update to receive the new ‘episode’.
